Advent Day 4 I Herd the Bells on Christmas Day

It's Day 4 for advent, I know the dates may look alittle messed up at times, but I have been following and reading each day or evening.

The Christmas carol I Herd The Bells On Christmas Day is a classic song that started during the civil war was taking place in the 1800's was sung around Christmas time. It was given afew different names at first, but I think somewhere along the way it stuck with the title it is known today!

The song is ment to promote peace and good will. Quite fitting with war happening, I thhink people everywhere could and would use some peace for this of year.

YouVersion Bible has picked Psalms 29 to match this Christmas Carol. Psalms is a good book and a favourite of mine in the bible, probably popluar with many as you ever sit down and read through seeing King David's life in battle and strife at many times, but he always turns back to God with praises and worship longing for God's heart.

David describes the Lords voice how power it is as well as gentle as the Lord almighty Himself also gives us peace through our own turmoils we go through. Aftr all He did speak everything into creation!

…… ….. 7 The voice of the Lord strikes
with bolts of lightning.
8 The voice of the Lord makes the barren wilderness quake;
the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
9 The voice of the Lord twists mighty oaks
and strips the forests bare.
In his Temple everyone shouts, “Glory!”
10 The Lord rules over the floodwaters.
The Lord reigns as king forever.
11 The Lord gives his people strength.
The Lord blesses them with peace.

I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:

“God is not dead, nor doth he sleep;

The wrong shall fail, the right prevail,

With peace on earth, good will to men.”

Who is God to you? Is he your protector? Your provider? This Christmas Season, have you allowed Him to be your peace?

It can be easy to view God simply as a friend to go to in times of trouble or a magic genie that grants all of your prayers. But God is so much more than that, and the blessings He wants to give to you are endless! He offers so many wonderful things—completely free of charge–including hope, joy, and peace for your heart. God wants nothing but the best for you.

Although your circumstances may be difficult, or hard to understand at times, that doesn’t mean that God isn’t there. He cares about you, loves you with a perfect love, and is waiting for you to let Him be your peace. So this Christmas, as you think about all the gifts you need to buy, and your never-ending to-do list, don’t forget to stop and remember that only God can provide you with the unwavering quiet strength that comes from His peace.

Questions:

In what ways do you find peace and comfort in God?

What difficult circumstances are you currently dealing with that you need God’s peace to help you endure?

My answer:

I know God is my provider, protector and my sheild, I call on Him as much as I can. God can hear me pray where ever I am, I don't have to be at certain places for God to hear my prayer. Sometimes I think I can do things myself, but really I need to let God work and show me peace.

I guess try and ask Him for his peace for the troubles in my life, there's days I find hard to feel at peace with things, there's days I feel mad at the world or some people that hurt and take things away from me. It's been hard dealing with that.

  1. There is such a powerful message in this song and in the thoughts your wrote.

    To answer your questions, I guess I try and find my peace in God by letting Him determine my worth. Often the world pressures us into fitting in a mould or other try and bind us to legalistic thinking where they want us to lose our freedom in Christ. I don't use my freedom to do whatever I want, but I do use it to serve God, help those in need and to live a life of love.

    Christmas this year is tough because of family things that are going on, but I do know that God is in control of my heart and I need to trust Him to take care of those who oppose Him. I need to submit to Him and just shower in His blessings.
